"We could say that our social mission as Buddhists is to contribute broadly to society by establishing a new culture of humanism that gives expression to... joy. The creation of outstanding art and culture will attest to the greatness of this Buddhist philosophy." (Daisaku Ikeda, NHR, Vol. 27, Installments 35-36.)
What is the focus of this conference?
Our theme of our conference this year is:
Sensei, Holding High the Banner Of Mentor and Disciple, We Promise to be the Pillar, Eyes and Great Ship--Unifying Our Nation
Our focus is to refresh the Mentor and Disciple spirit in the lives of each artist in attendance. In this day and age, in the Latter Day of the Law, there is so much disunity within humanity. We want every Arts Department member to leave the conference as strong disciples vowing to work hard alongside our mentor: to be the wise, unifying factor not only in our activities in SGI-USA but in our art, in our community, and in our daily lives in society.
